The United Soccer League tested FIFA's Video Assistant Referee program for the first time last week during the match between New York Red Bulls 2 and Orlando City B.

The VAR program was used once in the match in the 36th minute when Orlando's Conor Donovan fouled Red Bulls II forward Junior Flemmings as the striker charged on a breakaway. Center referee Ismail Elfath initially deemed the foul as have occurred outside the box and due to the placement of the ball, the play was selected for review.

After just 24 seconds of review, Elfath deemed that Donovan was the last defender back and the Orlando defender was sent off.
