LA Galaxy travel to face Western Conference counterparts Sporting Kansas City on Sunday | Weekly Schedule

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Monday, Sept. 12, 2016) – The LA Galaxy (11-4-14, 47 points) will travel this week to Children’s Mercy Park for a matchup against Western Conference counterparts Sporting Kansas City on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 11 a.m. PT live on FOX. LA Galaxy II host Rio Grande Valley this Wednesday, Sept. 14, at StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium (7:30 p.m. PT, www.lagalaxy.com) before a road match Saturday against Sacramento Republic FC.

The Galaxy have gone 24-20-13 all-time against Sporting Kansas City and 8-15-6 in matches played on the road. Sunday will mark the third and final contest between LA and Kansas City this year, with the clubs earning draws in their first two games. In their most recent matchup, LA and SKC played to a 0-0 draw at StubHub Center on June 6. With just five games remaining in the MLS Regular Season, Sporting Kansas City sit in fifth place in the MLS Western Conference with 39 points, behind the second-place LA Galaxy with 47 points.
The LA Galaxy defeated Orlando City SC 4-2 on Sunday evening at StubHub Center behind a two-goal, two-assist performance from Giovani dos Santos, complimented by goals from Alan Gordon and Robbie Keane. Giovani dos Santos now has 14 goals and 11 assists on the season and is one of just two MLS players to have recorded 10+ goals and assists this year. With the result, the Galaxy are now in sole possession of second place in the Western Conference, four points off leader FC Dallas, with just five games remaining in the MLS Regular Season. The Galaxy’s +17 goal differential this year is the best in MLS and their 49 goals scored are tied for the most in MLS.
