Mexico boss Juan Carlos Osorio still deciding where to place Giovani dos Santos ahead of New Zealand friendly | INSIDER

Mexico head coach Juan Carlos Osorio shed no light on where LA Galaxy star Giovani dos Santos will line up for El Tri in their friendly with New Zealand on Saturday.

Dos Santos is expected to make his first appearance for Mexico in more than a year when Mexico take on the Oceanian nation in Nashville. Where Dos Santos will play is a point of contention in the Mexican press ahead of the match, but El Tri’s boss did not divulge where Mexico's No. 10 will play on Saturday.

“In some games, we don’t play with a number 10 literally but play with five or six offensive players. We, in our way to understand the game, strongly believe that the offensive side of the game does not depend on one player, but many players,” Osorio told reporters in Nashville. “We think that Giovani can play No. 10, he’s an offensive player that can play both flanks and in behind the striker. We’re trying to find the best possible ways, not just one, to use all his talent.”

Such positioning concerns did not seem to faze Dos Santos, who admitted that he was merely happy to be back in the fold with his national team.

"It is a joy to return to the national team.  I’m grateful for the confidence of [Osorio],” Dos Santos said. “I’m sure that we will do well in this process.”
