LA Galaxy and GlobalLogic partner to build next-generation digital platform for enhanced fan experience

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016) – The LA Galaxy and GlobalLogic announced today that the club has selected GlobalLogic, a leader in digital product development services, as the official digital technology partner of the LA Galaxy. As part of this partnership, the LA Galaxy and GlobalLogic will work together to design and build a next-generation digital platform and mobile application for enhanced fan engagement.

Today’s sports fans are more connected than ever, and innovative sporting organizations are looking to digital technology to attract, engage and delight fans and increase loyalty—from home to the stadium and beyond.  As such, the LA Galaxy and GlobalLogic have begun development of a new digital platform that will provide Galaxy fans with an enhanced game-day experience and opportunity for better engagement. The digital platform will offer new levels of personalization as well as access to live scores, videos, news, social media integration and up-to-the-minute alerts. The platform will leverage GlobalLogic’s deep experience design and complex engineering to greatly enhance the fan engagement for game-day experiences and beyond—from any device, on demand. The platform will include a mobile app which will be available for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices via the App Store℠ and Google Play™.

“We are extremely excited to partner with GlobalLogic to give our fans a comprehensive digital platform and mobile application to engage with our club,” said LA Galaxy President Chris Klein. “Fan experience is paramount to us and GlobalLogic’s design-led engineering experience will provide a basis to successfully create the most effective and innovative digital engagement platform for our fans.”

GlobalLogic arrived at the overall design after rigorous in-stadium observation, club and fan interviews.  This resulted in a comprehensive customer journey map which was used as the blueprint for user experience and the graphical interface.  Back-end architecture was designed based on LA Galaxy’s current plans and expected future requirements.  The platform was optimized for flexibility allowing for integration with 3rd party APIs, and to enable data analytics and easy expansion as the club and fans requirements evolve.

“Continuing its tradition of innovation, LA Galaxy has a solid vision to engage their large fan base and community using the latest digital technologies” said Rajesh Radhakrishnan, CRO, GlobalLogic. “We’re excited to help the franchise build the platform that delivers a customized, continuous experience of the team’s content, while making it simple and easy for users to find what's important to them right from their mobile devices anytime, anywhere.”

The digital platform design and phase-one release is complete and in testing.  The first general public release of the platform and mobile app is slated for March 2017, in time for LA Galaxy’s opening of the 2017 regular season.
