In a season that saw him sign his first professional contract, LA Galaxy II defender and former Academy Product Hugo Arellano made eight appearances for the Los Dos backline in 2016. Arellano made his first professional start in 2016 and was also called in for U.S. Youth Men’s National Team duties throughout the season.
How did you improve as a player in 2016?
“I think I improved all my attributes on the field a lot. It really helped me make the jump. Just learning from the older players and the watching guys play, even if I’m on the bench I’m watching my position…it all really helped me throughout the season.”
What was your favorite moment of the season?
“My favorite moment was my first professional start. We were away up north and I had my first start in Portland. I was really happy.”
What are your expectations for 2017?
“Just to be playing the best football I can. Continuing to be happy with my football and just enjoying myself out there. That’s what I want to continue doing. I love what I do and I want to keep it that way.”
