LA Galaxy II Year in Review: Midfielder Ryo Fujii

In his second season with LA Galaxy II, former Galaxy Academy product and midfielder Ryo Fujii doubled his number of appearances for Los Dos in 2016. Fujii was named to USL’s 20-Under-20 list highlighting some of the league’s top young talent. Fujii earned USL Team of the Week Honors for his two-goal performance against Arizona United SC in late May.

Fujii spoke to LAGalaxy.com about his most active season of professional soccer to date.

How would you grade your performance this season?

“I think I learned a lot this season, it’s all an experience. Not just physically, but mentally I think I’ve learned a lot. There were ups and there were downs but I think it was an all right season.”

What are some of your expectations for the 2017 season?

“This should be everyone’s, but just to get better every day. Just keep working hard and take it one step at a time. You’re not going to take leaps so you just have to take one step at a time and just become better and better. Hopefully we’ll make a playoff push and get the trophy.”

What was one of your favorite moments of the season?

“There was a lot of good stuff this season. Obviously when I scored those two goals. I think it was at home against Arizona. That was a good feeling.”
