LAS VEGAS – LA Galaxy head coach Curt Onalfo gave João Pedro high marks after the Portuguese midfielder made his club debut in Saturday’s preseason defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes.
Pedro went 27 minutes in the Galaxy’s 1-0 exhibition loss in Las Vegas, playing alongside Galaxy II midfielder Jamie Villarreal in central midfield. The 23-year-old’s cameo was relatively uneventful, but he did appear comfortable in his new role despite arriving from Portugal only hours earlier.
After Pedro’s brief appearance, Onalfo was highly complimentary of his new Portuguese midfielder’s performance.
“I thought he did fine,” Onalfo told LA Galaxy Insider. “He was tired after having flown in from half way across the world but played about 30 minutes. He was sharp with his touches and looked really good.”
