Congrats Keano! LA Galaxy Legend Robbie Keane named to FAI Hall of Fame | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. -- Former LA Galaxy captain Robbie Keane was named to the Republic of Ireland soccer federation's Hall of Fame at Sunday's FAI Awards in Dublin.

Keane was the only inductee to the 2017 FAI Hall of Fame class after ending his remarkable career for the Irish national team last year. The former Galaxy captain played for 18-years for the Irish, making 145 appearances for his country and finishing his international career as Ireland’s all-time leading goal scorer with 67 career goals.

The long-time captain for the Irish, Keane led his nation to three major international competitions, appearing at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the European Championships in 2012 and 2016.

Keane took to Facebook after the award show to thank the Irish federation for the great honor.

"Honoured to be inducted in the Hall of Fame," Keane wrote. "Thanks to everyone for your lovely messages."
