CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy got some love from the three most notable MLS Power Rankings after their 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake.

Dave Romney and Ema Boateng scored on Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium to give the Galaxy their first win of 2017 and the first win of Curt Onalfo’s head coaching tenure. The Galaxy are now 1-2-0 in their first three matches and will not play again until they travel to British Columbia to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC on April 1.

The explanations from all three Power Rankings can be found below:

Ema Boateng swears he doesn't have anything against RSL. The results beg to differ, and the Galaxy are never going to mind.

A very young Galaxy team went on the road to Utah and secured the club's first win of the year -- a 2-1 victory over Real Salt Lake. This was a big one for Curt Onalfo.

What on earth did Real Salt Lake ever do to Ema Boateng? The Galaxy midfielder scored the last of the Galaxy’s two goals in Saturday’s 2–1 win, meaning that all five of his MLS goals (including playoffs) have come against RSL. After two losses to start the season, these three points are huge for Curt Onalfo’s team.
