WATCH: Dave Romney and Daniel Steres share their stories of success with LA Galaxy San Diego

LA Galaxy's Dan Steres and Dave Romney took time over the international weekend to share their stories with high school boys from LA Galaxy's San Diego Alliance Club at  Aviara Community Park in Carlsbad.

Two defenders from Southern California, Romney and Steres spoke to the club's players about their paths from club to professional soccer, sharing insight about the challenges along the way.

Romeny, from Irvine, Calif., played club soccer for the Irvine Strikers in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy followed by four years of college soccer at the University of San Francisco. After four years, Romney played one season for LA Galaxy II (USL) before signing a contract with the LA Galaxy in August 2015. The promotion made Romney the first-ever Galaxy II player to sign a first-team contract.

Steres, from Calabasas, Calif., was a four-year starter at San Diego State before being drafted by Chivas U.S.A. in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft. After stints with the Seattle Sounders and Wilmington Hammerheads (USL), Steres signed with LA Galaxy II in 2014. After two seasons, Steres signed his contract with the LA Galaxy in December 2015.

LA Galaxy San Diego is a member of the LA Galaxy Alliance Club Program, an extensive initiative for youth clubs that gives its members the best resources to reach their soccer and community potential.
