Could Jermaine Jones play a new role when the LA Galaxy face Philadelphia Union? | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – Jermaine Jones has one goal for the LA Galaxy in 2017 and the 35-year-old veteran midfielder is ready to take an expanded attacking role to help break the Galaxy out of their 2-5-0 slump this season.

The veteran midfielder was deployed in an advanced position in the second half of the Galaxy’s 3-0 defeat to Seattle Sounders FC as the team sought to erase a three-goal deficit. Although Los Angeles couldn’t get on the board against Seattle, Jones believes that deploying him in an advanced position could help the Galaxy.

“If you play soccer and you've been in the business, I'm not changing anything. I'm going to do what I've been doing every time. In the second half, we changed it so I played in the same position that I played in Colorado and I had more chances to score goals," Jones said. "If I score I can help the team. Every player has to look for himself and I'm the first player to say that I didn't play well [vs. Seattle] but we keep going. It doesn't matter.

"It's a game, you win games and you lose games, we will come out of this."
