The LA Galaxy and MLS WORKS have teamed up to implement a league-wide Breast Cancer Awareness/Soccer Kicks Cancer campaign to help in the fight against breast cancer. The LA Galaxy and LA Galaxy Foundation will help raise awareness and funds for the cause throughout the month of October.
Galaxy and MLS players, coaches and officials will be outfitted in pink gear for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Players will have special pink MLS WORKS’ ribbon patches on their jerseys and be provided pink shoelaces and wristbands. Coaches and technical staff will be provided MLS W.O.R.K.S. scarves and ribbon pins. Game officials will support the initiative with pink whistles, wristbands and jersey patches. Each October Galaxy home game will be played with commemorative pink adidas match balls and pink Gatorade sideline towels will be used by both benches. Galaxy staff members will support the campaign by wearing pink ribbon pins.
Additionally, the Galaxy has partnered with Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) fraternity to distribute 10,000 Think Pink ribbons to fans at Galaxy home games in the month of October.
As part of its efforts to raise funds for the cause, the LA Galaxy Foundation will sell a limited number of special edition pink Breast Cancer Awareness items and auction several autographed items from its booth during each game.
Proceeds will be donated to breast cancer fighting organizations.
