LA Galaxy vs New York Red Bulls
The LA Galaxy welcomed Thierry Henry, Rafa Marquez and the rest of the New York Red Bulls for a second time this year on Sunday, November 3 for the 2nd leg of the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Celebratory cheers and pride from all Galaxy fans was felt throughout the stadium, but none more appreciative than from Kicks for Kids’ organizations City of Compton Park & Recreation Center, A Place Called Home, Healthy Start at Berendo Middle School, The Salvation Army-Santa Ana, New Generation, Inc., and New Economic For Women & Children.
The groups sat in section 127 and had the perfect view of every kick, run, and goal by their beloved team. Despite the early goal by the Red Bulls Luke Rodgers, the kids cheered on their favorite Galaxy players to answer back. The kids were happy with the result; a corner kick from David Beckham that led to a game-tying goal by Mike Magee. At the 73rd minute, Landon Donovan scored the winning goal giving the Galaxy a 2-1 lead.
The kids and chaperones posed for pictures, held up “GO GALAXY” posters, and clapped with their cheer sticks as they attempted to distract the opposing team. The kids appreciated the opportunity to go to the Western Conference Semi Finals game.
The City of Compton group gave a roaring “THANK YOU!” to some of the LA Galaxy staff members. The New Generation group had a giant green poster thanking the Kicks for Kids Community Partners for the donation of tickets.
