CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, March 10, 2015) – LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo has been called up to the Panamanian National Team for friendly matches against the national teams of Trinidad & Tobago and Costa Rica. Panama will travel to face Trinidad for a match March 27 before facing Costa Rica at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama March 31.
Penedo, 33, has made 100 appearances for his native Panama, including caps in various FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, CONCACAF Gold Cup and UNCAF Nations Cup matches. Penedo started in 29 MLS Regular Season matches in 2014, including all five playoff games en route to winning the 2014 MLS Cup. He most recently started for Panama in a friendly match at the Galaxy’s StubHub Center against the U.S. Men’s National Team in February. Since joining the Galaxy last year, the veteran shot stopper has a 19-8-11 record and a 1.05 goals against average in addition to 12 shutouts.
The Galaxy goalkeeper will be unavailable for selection when the team travels to D.C. United for a match at RFK Stadium on Saturday, March 28 (4 p.m. PT, Time Warner Cable SportsNet/Time Warner Cable Deportes).
