Chicago Fire head coach Frank Klopas on Robbie Rogers: "we’d like to have him here with us"

CARSON, Calif. – Robbie Rogers may be training with the LA Galaxy, but the team that owns his rights, the Chicago Fire are clearly in interested in adding him to their club.

In an interview with reporters on Tuesday, Chicago head coach Frank Klopas stated that the Fire would be interested in bringing him to the Fire. Rogers rights were acquired by the Fire in the offseason from the Columbus Crew.

“It's great, with his home in LA, for him to go back and play, that's great news,” Klopas said. “Before he came out, we made that move because we believe Robbie Rogers is a very good player and we knew at some point that he was leaving his team in England. That hasn't changed.

"It's great that he came out, that's all great, and a lot of people support him. We are, too. He's a young guy, it's great for him to come back and play. That's why we took his rights.”

Klopas also admitted that he had not heard from Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena about a potential deal for Rogers’ rights.

“At some point I’m sure they will,” said Klopas. “For us, he’s a very good player. We’d like to have him here with us.”
