Bruce Arena promises changes after disappointing 3-1 defeat to Vancouver Whitecaps FC

VANCOUVER, B.C. –LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena was particularly candid after the LA Galaxy suffered a 3-1 defeat to Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday evening at BC Place.

LA has now dropped two consecutive matches.  The loss was also the Galaxy’s first against the Whitecaps since they joined MLS.

Arena’s thoughts are below…

(On his thoughts on the game…)

ARENA: “I think that they muscled us on a couple of plays that made a difference in the game to their credit.”

(On the team’s lack of aggressiveness and where that came from…)

ARENA: “Defensively, in the penalty area, in the attack. Both penalty areas, we could have been better.”

(On Gyasi Zardes’ first career MLS goal…)

ARENA: “It was a good goal.”

(On Russell Teibert’s performance…)

ARENA: “Give him credit, he had a good goal.”

(On whether or not there is disappointment not to get three points…)

ARENA: “Of course. We didn’t come here to lose the game. We’re certainly disappointed. We didn’t have good reactions from our team and I think their team reacted better than we did.”

(On his team’s chances throughout the match…)

“Yeah, we could have gotten a goal to take the lead early in that game, which could have been a big difference in the game, but we didn’t get it done and they did.”

(On whether the push for a goal opened his team up at the back…)

ARENA: “It’s a bunch of players losing their concentration at the end of the game. That’s ridiculous. We should not give up a goal there. That’s poor play by a bunch of our players.”

(On whether having Robbie Keane could help the LA Galaxy…)

ARENA: “We will see. We will deal with that next week.”

(On potential lineup changes…)

ARENA: “There will be changes in Philadelphia.”
