LA Galaxy fell to Phoenix Rising FC on the road at Casino Arizona Field Saturday night in their first action back since March following the restart of the USL Championship season. For Phoenix, Solomon Asante had two goals and an assist to lead Rising FC in the Group B matchup.
Rising FC took the lead earl in the first half as Solomon Asante delivered a low cross from the right to the back post where Junior Flemmings was on hand to finish. Flemmings was then brought down in the penalty area five minutes before halftime and Jon Bakero finished low to the right corner from the spot. Asante added a goal in first-half stoppage time with a left-footed strike that made it a three-goal lead at the break.
Los Dos' Ivan Gutierrez almost pulled a goal back seven minutes into the second half as his surging run up the left side was capped with a curling shot that clipped the right post. With nine minutes to go, however, Asante added his second of the night on a deflected shot that took the ball away from Galaxy II goalkeeper Abraham Romero to wrap up all three points for the hosts.
In their next match, the LA Galaxy travel to Torero Stadium in San Diego to face San Diego Loyal SC on Sunday, July 19 at 7 p.m. PT. The match will mark the first between LA Galaxy II and San Diego, who are in their first season of the USL Championship season and are led by former LA Galaxy great Landon Donovan.

LA Galaxy II fell to Phoenix Rising FC 4-0 on the road at Casino Arizona Field Saturday night in their first action back since March following the restart of the USL Championship season.
LA Galaxy are now 1-1-0 during the 2020 season and 1-1-0 on the road.
Head Coach Junior Gonzalez now holds an 8-6-4 record throughout his head coaching tenure with LA Galaxy II.
LA Galaxy II were without Kai Koreniuk, Carlos Harvey, Cameron Dunbar and Jonathan Perez, all whom are with the first team in Orlando for the MLS is Back tournament.
The United Soccer League announced earlier this month the revised schedule for the 2020 USL Championship season.
The league’s clubs are set to play 263 games over 13 weeks to decide which 16 teams will advance to the 2020 USL Championship Playoffs, which will open in the second weekend of October.
LA Galaxy II will compete in the USL Championship Group B for the revised 2020 campaign alongside the following clubs: San Diego Loyal, Phoenix Rising FC, Las Vegas Lights FC and Orange County SC.
