In its inaugural year, the Girls’ Academy League is part of U.S. Soccer’s mission to develop world-class players and coaches. It is intended to improve long-term player development with an increased emphasis on quality training and evenly spread competition. The league is divided into seven regions: Northwest, Southwest, Frontier, Mid-America, Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. Each region includes about 8-10 teams, totaling to 69 clubs.
