Experienced midfielder Laurent Courtois signed with Chivas USA on August 4, 2011, after spending three seasons with French side Grenoble. In his first season with Chivas USA, Courtois appeared in 11 games (three starts) and scored his first goal in his MLS career when the team visited the Colorado Rapids on August 20, match in which Courtois’ goal gave the Red-and-White a dramatic, last-minute 2-2 tie.
Courtois, originally from Lyon, France, started his youth team career when he was 18 with the Olympique Lyonnais Reserves. He then went off to play for AC Ajaccio (1998-1999), making 30 appearances and scoring five goals. Courtois has a wealth of club experience playing for Tolouse (1999-2001), Istres (2003-2005), Grenoble (2008-2011), West Ham United of the English Premier League (2001-2003) and the Spanish club Levante (2005-2008). He speaks French, English and Spanish fluently.
