Real Madrid announce travel roster for international friendly against LA Galaxy

Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Xabi Alonso, Rafael Van der Vaart are just some of the big names that will join new head coach José Mourinho in Los Angeles for Real Madrid’s international friendly against the LA Galaxy at the Rose Bowl on Aug. 7.

Headlining the roster is Cristiano Ronaldo, who will be among those that is arriving today at 4 p.m. The 2008 FIFA Player of the Year winner is one of the more recognizable athletes in the world. In his first year in Spain last year, Ronaldo scored 33 goals in 37 games played and helped lead his club to a 31-4-3 record, good for 96 points, just three points behind league champion, Barcelona, in Spain’s La Liga standings.

A nine-time European champion and 31-time champion of Spain’s La Liga, Real Madrid named in late May two-time Champions League winner José Mourinho as the club’s new head coach. For this game, Mourinho will use his full roster of international stars available for selection, including 2007 FIFA Player of the Year Kaka, Dutch midfielder Rafael Van der Vaart and Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who this summer, became the first Spanish player to ever lift the World Cup championship trophy. The 2010 FIFA World Cup Golden Glove winner had six saves in Spain’s 1-0 win over Holland, in extra time, in the final.

For fans of Real Madrid, additional supporters sections have been added for the visiting club. Fans wishing to sit with fellow Real Madrid fans are asked to request tickets in these sections when purchasing their seats.

The Galaxy are urging fans to arrive at the stadium early to avoid getting delayed in traffic. Parking lots open at noon. Tailgating is encouraged and the Galaxy SoccerFest in Lot H will have food, interactive activities and live music beginning at 3:00PM.
