Catching Up With Former LA Galaxy Forward Alan Gordon

CARSON, Calif – As Chivas USA prepare to face their hated rival in the second installment of the 2010 SuperClásico on Sunday, there’s one Goat who probably already knows everything he needs to know about the Galaxy.

Red-and-White striker Alan Gordon spent seven seasons with Los Angeles before joining Chivas USA on Aug. 5. The 28-year-old is intimately acquainted with Bruce Arena’s squad, but insists that there’s nothing he could tell his new teammates that they don’t already know.

“There’s nothing I can say that they haven’t been through,” Gordon said Wednesday. “This team has already been through Clásico. We’ve all played in these games and we know what it’s about.”

Sunday’s match will be Gordon’s first against his former side. Having been a part of so many Super Clásicos on LA’s roster, he knows exactly how intense the rivalry can get.

“It’s about pride and it’s about competing against your rival,” he said. “Someone that you look across The Home Depot Center at and despise throughout the year.”

With 25 points from 25 matches, Chivas USA has all been eliminated from playoff contention this season. But regardless of postseason considerations, the Goats will always have extra motivation to down their in-stadium nemesis.

“It all comes to this one opportunity,” Gordon said. “This one game. This is our home game to come out and give them a game.”

Gordon remains quick to downplay his role as a source of information about the Galaxy, but he’s not completely tight-lipped ahead of Sunday’s match.

“I have little tips and tendencies that on their team guys have that I can make the players on our team aware of,” he said. “But nothing too serious – just little things.”
