Dallas not vexed by LA's sweep in 2010

The Los Angeles Galaxy edged past Dallas, 2-1, on Oct. 24.

NEW YORK – FC Dallas manager Schellas Hyndman has said that no one should read too much into his team’s 2-1 loss to the Galaxy at The Home Depot Center in the final match of the 2010 regular season.

After all, his focus was not on winning that match.

“I don’t think it’s much of a factor for us,” Hyndman said in a Wednesday media teleconference. “In that game we didn’t play [goalkeeper] Kevin Hartman, Daniel Hernandez and Ugo [Ihemelu] did not get in until the last part of the game because of injury.

“We were really thinking about the next game, the [playoff] game against RSL at home. I didn’t want to risk any of those players so that we wouldn’t be at our best in the playoffs. It would have helped with the confidence, but that’s not a concern from a coach’s point of view.”

After missing the season finale in LA, Hartman, Hernandez and Ihemelu have played every minute of the postseason for FC Dallas.

The LA Galaxy handed FC Dallas two of their league-low four losses on the 2010 season. And Bruce Arena’s side was also the only team to win at Pizza Hut Park in 2010, on a Mike Magee goal back in May.

In the final game of the season on Oct. 24, FC Dallas took a 1-0 lead before watching the Galaxy come back for a 2-1 win that clinched the Supporters’ Shield.

“Everybody is aware they beat us twice this year,” FC Dallas Daniel Hernandez said.

“I don’t think as a player it bothers us a at all. We’ve done a good job of concentrating on our opponent each week, whether at home or away … We wouldn’t feel differently if we beat them twice this year.”
