The LA Galaxy Youth Academy teams claimed a pair of wins over South Carolina United FC on Monday at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase in Phoenix. Playing with their full complement of players for the first time at the Showcase, both Galaxy teams cruised to victories, with the U-16’s winning 5-0 and the U-18’s winning 3-0.

Two days after scoring for his Showcase Select team, Jack McBean was the star for the Galaxy U-16’s, scoring three times in the opening 35 minutes as his team improved to 9-0-1 on the season and 2-0-0 at the Showcase. Grady Howe and Sean Dhillon added goals on either side of halftime for LA as they recorded their biggest win of the season.

McBean put his team in front after just three minutes and then doubled the Galaxy lead in the 29th minute. Howe struck for his first goal of the year in the 33rd minute before McBean completed his hat trick just two minutes later.

Dhillon, whose brother Justin represented the Galaxy in the Showcase Select game on Saturday, rounded out the scoring in the 49th minute with his fifth goal of the season, leaving him tied for second place on the club.

Josh McNeely played the first half in goal for LA and was replaced by Grayson Cornwall for the second half, with the pair combining to keep their sixth shutout of the season and third in the last four games.

Earlier in the day, the Galaxy U-18’s claimed their first win of the Showcase and their fifth win in their last six games, knocking off South Carolina United FC 3-0. After allowing two goals in the opening 11 minutes of their game against Andromeda on Saturday, the Galaxy started much better on Monday afternoon as midfielder Nati Schnitman scored his first goal of the season in the 9th minute, giving LA a 1-0 advantage.

Dyllan Stevens doubled the Galaxy lead seven minutes later with his first goal.

Halftime substitute Neil Ignacio who, like Schnitman and Stevens, played for the Galaxy U-16’s last season, rounded out the scoring in the 74th minute. That goal was Ignacio’s fourth of the season, moving him into a tie for the team lead in goals along with Juan Gutierrez.

Vince Paldino, making his first appearance at the Showcase, kept a clean sheet for the Galaxy, who are now 6-3-1 on the season.
