LA Galaxy Celebrates Read Across America Day

2011 read across america

On March 1st, in celebration of Read Across America Day, LA Galaxy staff members, 2011 Miss LA Galaxy Lara Hosseinzadeh and court member Chelsea McGrath visited Eshelman Avenue Elementary School as part of its week-long Read Across America activities. The Galaxy readers shared their love of reading and favorite books with 1st and 2nd grade students and encouraged them to read with their siblings and family members. Read Across America is an annual motivation and awareness program which encourages adults and children to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

In partnership with the California Teachers Association (CTA) for Read Across America, the Galaxy distributed posters for the classrooms and bookmarks for every student to encourage them to keep reading.

At the conclusion of the event, students were invited to the library where Miss LA Galaxy Lara Hosseinzadeh and court member Chelsea McGrath presented Principal Rhonda Pannell with books for the Eshelman Avenue Elementary School’s library on behalf of the Galaxy and California Teachers Association.
