Torrential rain had soaked Southern California throughout the day and as such the clubs dealt with wet, chilly and windy conditions.

The Galaxy were once again shorthanded to start the match, as Omar Gonzalez, Donovan Ricketts and Juan Pablo Angel were not in the starting lineup. Angel, though, dressed and made his Galaxy debut as a second-half substitute.

It did not take long for the Revolution to find the back of the net. Marko Perovic swung a corner kick into the box but it was cleared out. However, the ball went right back to Perovic, and whipped it to the far post. Shalrie Joseph easily headed the ball into the back of the net.

The Galaxy appeared to have nabbed the equalizer in the 17th minute, when David Beckham swung a free kick into the middle of the box from the left flank. Revs ‘keeper Matt Reis reached the ball first but did not appear to have a clear grasp of the ball. Juninho knocked the loose ball into the back of the net, but match official Hilario Grajada waved the goal off, apparently calling goalkeeper interference against the Galaxy.

Then, Mike Magee found the back of the net in the 23rd minute, but the play was waved off due to offside.

Tuesday’s hero, however, bailed out his side once more. Juninho settled onto a botched clearance attempt by AJ Soares and rifled a 20-yard shot past Reis in the 39th minute. The goal -- Juninho’s second in as many games -- matched his season total from a year ago, when the first-year player had two in 25 games.

The Galaxy though could not carry the momentum over into the second half. To try and help add some spark to their attack, Galaxy coach Bruce Arena took our Magee and Barrett and replaced them with Angel and Paolo Cardozo. However, neither newcomer could get onto the ball much as the rain became more of a factor.

Late in the match, Todd Dunivant appeared to have gotten a break when a ball fell at his feet inside the penalty area. However, Dunivant slipped as he tried to race towards the ball and did not get a shot on goal.

Angel appeared to have given the Galaxy a late winner, but his stoppage-time goal was called back due to offside.
