After all the talk of David Beckham’s imminent $18 million signing with Paris-Saint Germain, it seems the pendulum has swung the other way and the midfielder is favoring a stay with the LA Galaxy.

On Friday, PSG sporting director Leonardo told reporters that Beckham’s family, and not the money, could be the deciding factor.

“[Beckham] is in LA, he has his family over there,” Leonardo said during a press conference to introduce new PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti. “We have talked a lot and we are still talking, but I’m not sure it will be done.

“We have a very good rapport with David Beckham, but we never said it was a done deal,” Leonardo added. “We have studied it and we are studying it. It’s always been a question of personal matters [with Beckham] rather than contract issues.”

A devoted family man, Beckham has repeatedly stated that he, his wife Victoria, and four children are comfortable in Los Angeles. His five-year contract with MLS and the Galaxy is due to expire on Dec. 31, but he reportedly has been offered a one-year extension by the club that he led to two Supporters’ Shields and one MLS Cup title in his last two seasons.

In the meantime, Beckham continues to weigh offers from LA and PSG, as well as several other clubs.
