LA Galaxy Announces Seats For Soldiers Program

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, May 17, 2012) – As a way of showing the club’s appreciation for the Armed Forces, the LA Galaxy announced today the creation of the Seats for Soldiers program. This program allows Galaxy Season Ticket Holders and other fans to donate their tickets to a member of the military for Armed Forces Appreciation Night, presented by Farmers Insurance, on Wednesday, May 23, when the club hosts the San Jose Earthquakes at The Home Depot Center.

DONATE TICKETS TO SEATS FOR SOLDIERS

As an incentive to drive Season Ticket Holders and fans to join the program, for every ticket purchased by fans, the club will donate a ticket of equal value to a member of the military. Additionally, the club has already pledged to donate 1,000 tickets to the game to various regional branches of the Armed Forces, the United Services Organizations (USO) and the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA).

Farmers Insurance, the night’s presenting sponsor, will distribute inflatable Thundersticks at the game and has donated 20 spots in the High Five line, as well as their two spots in the Dream Team, the children who escort the starting lineups from both teams onto the field for the start of the game, to children from military families. Additionally, Farmers Insurance executives will take penalty kicks at halftime for the Blue Star Families “Books on Bases” program, a charity that seeks to get books in the libraries of military bases and military impacted schools.

“As an organization we are proud to honor the Armed Forces and its heroes,” said Galaxy Vice President Chris Klein. “We are excited that our partner Farmers Insurance is fully supporting this endeavor through their various donations. We hope that by doing this, we can show soldiers everywhere just how eternally thankful we are for everything they do to protect our country, giving us the freedom to play and enjoy this game.”

All military personnel and their families are eligible to receive a 50 percent discount when purchasing tickets for this game. CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE

Prior to the start of the game, each branch of the United States Armed Forces —U.S. Air Force, U.S Army, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy— will be recognized. There will also be a flyover by the U.S. Air Force, a performance by the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band, who will also sing the national anthem, on the stadium concourse and a special recognition for Medal of Honor recipient Tibor Rubin, who is a resident of Garden Grove. The evening’s Color Guard will be presented by the Army.

Fans wishing to learn more about the U.S. Armed Forces will be able to do so in and around the stadium, where the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy will have booths and kiosks stationed.
