The 11th Annual Copa LA Youth Soccer Tournament kicks off Memorial Day Weekend

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, May 25, 2012) – The LA Galaxy are proud to announce the kick off of the 11th annual Copa LA Youth Soccer Tournament, presented by La Curacao, this Memorial Day weekend at the Ab Brown Soccer Complex in Riverside, Calif. The Copa LA tournament will run from Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 28 with the finals for each age group to be played on Monday.


Copa LA 2012 will feature 113 of the top youth soccer teams in the region, including the LA Galaxy Academy’s very own U-12, U-13, U-14 and U-15 teams. The youth teams on display at this highly competitive tournament range from U-8 to U-19. Teams from throughout Southern and Central California will be competing in the tournament, which also features entries from Arizona, Nevada and Mexico, making it one of the largest unaffiliated tournaments in Southern California.


This year’s Copa LA will again make for a memorable Memorial Day weekend for everyone. Players and families will be treated to a fun and competitive soccer weekend that will include the LA Galaxy Futboleros Flavored by Shasta, sponsor booths, official tournament t-shirts for the participating teams and a special appearance by 2011 MLS Defender of the Year Omar Gonzalez, who will be on site from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.


Copa LA provides a unique opportunity for players to be seen by Galaxy Academy coaches and scouts, who are looking to unearth the untold talent that abounds throughout Southern California for the LA Galaxy Academy.
