CARSON, Calif.LA Galaxy midfielder Hector Jimenez was given an additional one-game suspension and fined an undisclosed amount by the MLS Disciplinary Committee for his challenge on San Jose’s Steven Beitashour in LA’s 3-2 loss to San Jose at The Home Depot Center on Wednesday night. Jimenez, who was making his first start of the season and scored the first goal of his MLS career in the third minute of that game, was shown a red card for the tackle, meaning that he was already suspended for Saturday’s game against Houston at BBVA Compass Stadium. As a result of the Disciplinary Committee’s decision, Jimenez will now also miss the club’s home game against Portland on Sunday, June 17.

Additionally, the club placed forward Adam Cristman on the Disabled List with a concussion. This is the second time that Cristman has missed time this season because of a concussion, having missed the first six games of the season after being injured against New York during the preseason. He made his 2012 debut as a second half substitute in the 1-1 draw with FC Dallas on April 28, assisting on Pat Noonan’s stoppage time equalizer. He started the following game, a 2-0 loss at Seattle on May 2, but has not appeared in a regular season game since. Cristman will need to miss a minimum of six games after being placed on the Disabled List, meaning that he is not eligible to return to action until July 8 at Chicago, though he can play in U.S. Open Cup and MLS Reserve League games before then.

The Galaxy are back in action on Saturday, May 26 when they take on the Houston Dynamo in a rematch of MLS Cup 2011. That game, which will be shown live on NBC Sports Network starting at 11:30 a.m. (PT), will be played at the newly-opened BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. After the game, the team will fly to North Carolina for the club’s Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Third Round game against the NASL’s Carolina RailHawks, on Tuesday, May 29. LA’s first game in the Open Cup this season, it will be played at WakeMed Sports Park in Cary, N.C. and kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. (PT).
