It was 2003 all over again.
A week after David Beckham brought back some magic from his earlier days, Thierry Henry conjured up a vintage strike that sent the New York Red Bulls to a 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire last Wednesday. Through Thursday morning, Henry's tight-angle goal leads the AT&T Goal of the Week voting with one day remaining.
Newly acquired Sébastien Le Toux played a pinpoint cross to Henry, who controlled it off his chest before firing a left-footed half-volley off the far post and into the back of the net. The tally was the 10th of the season for the Frenchman, although just his first since April 28 after injuries limited his playing time.
If the results hold, it would be the second Goal of the Week award for Henry — who has 42 percent of the votes this week — in 2012, after getting the nod in Week 3. LA's 18-year-old rookie Jose Villarreal sits in second place after the youngster's first MLS goal salvaged a draw with the Whitecaps in Vancouver.
