CARSON, Calif. – The Three Points to the LA Galaxy’s 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps…

1) JUNINHO CONTINUES HIS RUN OF FORM WITH WONDERGOAL

Over the past month, no player has been more influential for the LA Galaxy than midfielder Juninho and on Saturday night, he once again showcased his skills.

The Brazilian tallied his sixth goal in five starts scoring the game-winner in LA’s victory over Vancouver. With both teams struggling to generate offense, Juninho came to LA’s rescue in the 41st minute after receiving a touch from Robbie Keane as he launched a shot from 28-yards into the top corner of Vancouver’s net.

Juninho wasn’t simply valuable on the offensive side as the Brazilian neutralized Vancouver’s midfield stalwart Bobby Robson, preventing him from impacting the game.

2) HEALTHY BECKHAM SCORES TRADEMARK FREE KICK

After being hampered with a stomach illness last week, David Beckham was back to his old self in Saturday’s victory over the Whitecaps.

In 85 minutes of action, the English midfielder was aggressive throughout as he repeatedly sought to put pressure on a reserve-laden Whitecaps defense. In the 79th minute, Beckham would tally a trademark goal as a foul on Robbie Keane earned a dangerous free kick that Beckham expertly placed in the top corner.

With the goal, Beckham has now scored two goals and tallied two assists in two performances.

3) VICTORY PUTS GALAXY POISED FOR RUN UP THE TABLE HEADING INTO INTERNATIONAL BREAK

With the comprehensive victory over the Whitecaps, the LA Galaxy continued their ascent up the table heading into the international break.

The Galaxy head into the break on an impressive run of form as of late with a six game unbeaten streak—four matches being shutouts. Having defeated the Whitecaps, the Galaxy are now in sole possession of third place in the Western Conference with 46 points, three points clear of the Seattle Sounders, who have played three fewer matches.

LA’s win over Vancouver places them into prime position to target current second place Real Salt Lake, who are level on games played, but currently three points ahead of the Galaxy with 49 points overall. With matches against RSL and Seattle still on the docket, LA  appears poised for a run up the West standings.
