CARSON, Calif. (Friday, November 2, 2012) – Prior to the first leg of the LA Galaxy’s Western Conference Semifinal Series with San Jose kicking off, the LA Galaxy Academy teams will host Nomads SC at The Home Depot Center for a Development Academy doubleheader on Sunday.

The U-18’s will take the field first at 12:30 p.m., followed by the U-16’s at 3 p.m. with both games being played on University Field #2.

The unbeaten Galaxy U-18’s (4-0-1 overall) come into the game riding a four-game winning streaking, including a 7-1 win over Strikers FC in their last game on Oct. 20. Justin Dhillon, who had a hat trick against Strikers, and Jack McBean currently lead the team with a five goals apiece. Nomads SC (2-3-1 overall) lost to first place Real Salt Lake-Arizona 3-0 in their last game nearly three weeks ago.

The Galaxy U-16’s will be looking to build on their first win of the season, a 3-2 victory over Strikers FC, when they take on Nomads SC, who are currently near the bottom of the table with an 0-3-3 overall record. The Galaxy U-16’s are two points ahead of Nomads in the standings with a record of 1-2-2 for five points.

On Saturday, the Galaxy U-14’s will travel to Bakersfield to face the Central California Blues. Currently in first place in Southern California Developmental Soccer League, thanks in large part to a defense that’s only given up four goals and the dynamic duo of Salvador “Chava” Segura and Jesus Nuñez, the Galaxy are 6-0-1 overall and have taken 19 of a possible 21 points. The game against the Blues, who have a 3-4-1 record on the season, kicks off at 11:25 a.m. Kern County Soccer Park.

Also on Saturday, the Galaxy U-15’s, currently in sixth place in their division with a 3-1-2 record, will face Strikers FC U-15 who are struggling in 18th place. That game kick off at 3 p.m. at El Segundo High School.

Rounding out the weekend’s Academy schedule are the Galaxy U-13’s, who take on Legends FC at Veterans Sports Park in Pamona on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. Led by the attacking trio of Jose Ortiz, Angelo Deloso-Flocco and Jose Sosa, the Galaxy (6-1-0 with 18 points) are currently in third place in Southern California Developmental Soccer League standings.

U.S. U-17 LOSE TO ARGENTINA IN FOUR-NATIONS FINAL: LA Galaxy Academy players Jorge Miranda (Van Nuys) and Rolando Muñoz (Rancho Cucamonga) helped lead the U.S. Under-17 National Team to the finals of the Four-Nations Tournament in Argentina last week. In the final, the U.S. fell to host Argentina 3-1 in a match played at Estadio de Club Colon en Santa Fe, Argentina.

During the trip, which included two games in the tournament and two international friendlies, the U.S. U-15 team recorded a 2-1-1 record. The team started the trip with a 3-1 win over Uruguay in a friendly and then opened Four-Nations Tournament play with a 5-1 win over Chile. They lost to Argentina and then closed out their trip with a 2-2 draw with Paraguay.

Miranda and Muñoz each dressed for all four of their team’s games, playing in the 3-1 win over Uruguay and the 2-2 draw with Chile.

ROMERO AND WRIGHT TRAIN WITH U.S. U-15’s: LA Galaxy U-16 goalkeeper Abraham Romero and forward Haji Wright are in the final days of training camp with the U.S. Under-15 National Team. The camp, which began at The Home Depot Center on Oct. 27 and runs through Nov. 3, was the first of the new cycle of players born in 1998. Under the guidance of Head Coach Tony Leopore, Romero helped lead the U.S. to a 4-2 win over Strikers FC on Wednesday while Wright scored the lone goal for the U.S. in a 1-1 draw with the LA Galaxy U-16’s that same day. Prior to joining the camp, both Romero and Wright came off the bench in the Galaxy’s 3-2 win over Strikers FC on Oct. 20.
