LA Galaxy Fans Encouraged To Vote for Juninho and Marcelo Sarvas

Carson, Calif.— FutbolMLS.com’s “Latino Del Año” fan award is down to the Sweet 16 and two LA Galaxy players have made the cut. Midfielders Juninho and Marcelo Sarvas are each in the running for the award, but, if either is to advance to the Elite 8 they need your vote.


Juninho, who scored seven goals and had four assists in 2012, is paired up with Sporting KC midfielder Roger Espinoza in the Sweet 16 round of voting. The happy-go-lucky Brazilian is currently trailing the Honduran Espinoza in the voting 60.47 percent to 39.53 percent, as of Friday.


Sarvas, who scored two goals and assisted on two others in his first season with the club, is also paired up against a Honduran in the Round of 16, D.C. United’s Andy Najar. Sarvas currently leads Najar, but by less than five percent, taking 52.51 percent of the vote compared to 47.49 for Najar. Of the eight pairings, this is the closest matchup of them all, in fact, every other matchup is separate by more than 10 percent.

The Round of 16 voting ends on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 8:59 p.m. PT with quarterfinal pairing set to be unveiled on Monday, Nov. 19.
