The LA Galaxy Foundation and AEG partnered with MLS W.O.R.K.S., Major League Soccer’s community outreach initiative, to give back to the community during MLS Cup week. Beginning on November 25, staff and volunteers from the LA Galaxy Foundation, LA Galaxy Academy and MLS W.O.R.K.S. teamed up to beautify the Learning Center at the Boys and Girls Club of Carson. Volunteers spent four days sanding and staining bookcases, priming and painting walls, and assembling furniture in order to transform the club’s learning center into a one-of-a-kind space for the children. Additionally, new carpet was installed, wall quotes and mural put up and a new Xbox, TV, projector screen and books donated!

On Wednesday, November 28, top executives from the LA Galaxy, AEG, and MLS were on hand at the Boys and Girls Club of Carson to unveil the revamped learning center and announce the LA Galaxy Foundation and AEG’s plan to install a new Galaxy branded multiuse sport-court at the facility. The donation included a contribution of soccer equipment and twelve months of instruction from LA Galaxy Academy staff.  The lub will also receive street hockey instruction provided by the LA Kings.

Rounding out the week were visits with the MLS Cup and Cozmo to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on Thursday and Catskill Elementary, the site of the 2011 MLS Cup Community Project, on Friday for photo opportunities and autographs. The patients and students were also treated to MLS Cup t-shirts and soccer balls.
