LA Galaxy Training Notes: Trialists enter camp

CARSON, Calif. -- There were two new faces on Monday as the LA Galaxy has brought in a pair of unidentified trialists.

When asked for the identities of the trialists --one who appears to be a center back and the other an attacking player -- Arena did not reveal their names nor their countries of origin, but stated that they were not from the United States or Canada. The likely reason for Arena's no comment stems from MLS' Discovery Claim rules, which can be found here

“We have some trialists, we don’t need to publicize that, but we have a couple trialists in," Arena told LA Galaxy Insider. "We’re going to go through all the right protocol in the league to make sure that if they’re players that we’re interested in that we’re going to be able to sign them -- if it came down to that.”

A few other notes from practice on Monday...

Arena confirmed that Gyasi Zardes underwent surgery on Monday and will be out six to eight weeks.

Charlie Rugg trained for the first time on Monday and is hoping to make his preseason debut soon.

*When asked about his pleasant surprises this preseason, Arena mentioned Brian Perk, Rafael Garcia, and Tommy Meyer as players who are performing well.
