CARSON, Calif. —The LA Galaxy and Korean K-League side Gangwon FC played to a 0-0 draw in a preseason game at The Home Depot Center on Saturday morning. Carlo Cudicini played the full 90 minutes in goal for LA, who almost grabbed a late winner, only to see Paul Arriola’s header flash just wide in second half stoppage time.

Cudicini, who was not tested much in the opening 45 minutes, was called on to make a pair of fine saves after the break to keep the game scoreless. One of five players to go the full 90 minutes for Bruce Arena’s side, Cudicini has conceded just one goal in 225 minutes of play so far in the preseason.

Facing an international opponent for the first time this preseason, the Galaxy had the better of the play in the opening 45 minutes with Juninho twice testing the Korean side from set pieces while Colin Clark lashed a goalbound shot that was deflected just wide by a defender and Mike Magee sent a looping header just wide of the goal.

After the break, Rafael Garcia had a pair of long range chances for the Galaxy, while Gangwon forced Cudicini into a pair of good saves. Three of LA’s back four in front of the Italian goalkeeper – Todd Dunivant, Sean Franklin and Omar Gonzalez – all played the full 90 minutes for the first time in the preseason, as did Mike Magee.

In stoppage time, both teams had chances with Kim Eun-Jung hitting the post from a Gangwon corner kick. Cudicini snatched the rebound before it could cross the line and quickly started a counter attack with a long throw out to Magee near midfield. With just two players in front of him, Magee ran at the Gangwon defense and did well to earn a corner. His ensuing corner kick eluded everyone in the center of the box and found Paul Arriola, only for the Academy midfielder to power his header just wide of the goal, leaving the game to finish 0-0.

The Galaxy will be back in action on Tuesday night when they host Club Tijuana at The Home Depot Center. That game, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and is presented by MetroPCS, will feature a collection of reserves for the Mexican champions, with the first team taking on Colombian side Millionaros in the Copa Libertadores earlier in the day. Tickets are on sale now for just $10 with all proceeds from the game going to support the LA Galaxy Foundation. BUY TICKETS
