CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy’s last taste of home cooking for a while didn’t go they had hoped, suffering a 1-0 defeat to the Houston Dynamo on Sunday night. But the Galaxy feel confident that they can return to winning ways during their upcoming transcontinental three-city, nine-day road trip.

LA will head north of the border this weekend as they take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC before flying to Philadelphia for Wednesday’s clash at PPL Park against the Philadelphia Union before finally closing the trip at Red Bull Arena for a match against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday, May 19.
“This team is good on the road. We actually enjoy going on the road especially for a week like this. It will be nice team bonding and we play well on the road,” said Landon Donovan. “We would have liked to have won [on Sunday], there’s no question, but the reality is that it’s over and we have a big game against Vancouver now.”
The road games are a prelude of what will be a lengthy stay on the road for LA as five of the Galaxy’s next six games will be on the road. Expand that a little further and include a road game at Chivas USA on June 23 and seven of LA’s next nine league games will be road fixtures.
In light of LA’s upcoming travels, Galaxy players were disappointed to have dropped a 1-0 result to the Dynamo in a match that included a missed penalty kick by Landon Donovan. Now following this week’s preparations, the Galaxy will not host a game at The Home Depot Center until their May 26 match against Seattle Sounders FC.

“It’s tough to drop a result any time at home, but obviously, we’re going away from home for three games,” said midfielder Mike Magee. “You want to get on the points that you can before going on [the road] because you could have good road trip and only pick up a couple points sometimes. That’s just how hard it is to win sometimes here. It’s frustrating for many reasons.”
With the Houston game now in the rearview mirror, LA will try to earn points against a struggling Whitecaps team that is currently winless in their last seven matches and without a win since March 9.
“It’s obviously really big because we’ll try to take all nine points from [the trip],” said defender Greg Cochrane. “We’re going to have to be prepared and keep our body right for those cross-country flights.”
