CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, June 13, 2013) – The LA Galaxy Foundation and StubHub Center Foundation (formerly The Home Depot Center Foundation) are pleased to announce that StubHub has committed to a long-term partnership with the two charitable organizations. The first activity of the partnership will be for the Foundation to host three youth activity days as part of the venue’s annual summer Camps for Kids, beginning Thursday, June 13 at StubHub Center.
LA Galaxy players A.J. DeLaGarza, Landon Donovan, Sean Franklin and Marcelo Sarvas, all of who were a part of the club’s MLS Cup championship in 2012, will be in attendance on Thursday, to meet with children and help get them excited about the sport of soccer.
The camp will include training sessions for invited families to participate in soccer drills including dribbling, passing and shooting. StubHub volunteer staff will provide basic soccer instruction to the guests who will also receive gift bags complete with a soccer ball and other items to encourage families to continue practicing at home.
Each child attending the camp will also receive vouchers good for four free tickets to the Galaxy vs. Portland Timbers match, as well as free parking for StubHub Center’s official grand opening on June 19.
Now in its fifth year, Camps for Kids is an opportunity for children ages 7-10 to participate in soccer drills and learn valuable fitness tips to fuel a healthy lifestyle. As an extension of StubHub’s charitable program Rising Stars, the company has committed to financially supporting the program for at least three years through an initial grant of $30,000.
As the new naming rights partner for StubHub Center (formerly The Home Depot Center), and in partnership with AEG, owners of the venue, StubHub is committed to understanding the needs of the local Carson and South Bay communities, and giving back for the long-term. The 2013 launch of the Camps for Kids program will take place just six days before StubHub Center officially hosts its first event when the 2012 MLS Cup Champion LA Galaxy take on the Portland Timbers in an MLS regular season match on Wednesday, June 19.
