Pablo Mastroeni feels that he's gained a new "spark" while playing for the LA Galaxy

CARSON, Calif. – Pablo Mastroeni will be making an emotional return on Saturday to his old stomping grounds at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park when the LA Galaxy take on the Colorado Rapids.

Prior to being traded to LA last month, Mastroeni spent 12 seasons in Colorado where he amassed team records in appearances and starts while also leading the Rapids to their lone MLS Cup title in 2010.

Since the deal, Mastroeni has made five appearances, but made his first start in last week’s 2-1 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC.  With that first start under his belt, Mastroeni admits that his fitness is coming along as he looks to contribute to LA's efforts during the second half of the season.

“I feel good physically. Knock on wood, I've been here five weeks and I haven't had anything more than soreness. I started a weight program, I got back into my yoga routine, and physically I feel really good,” said Mastroeni. “If this game was all about how feel, it'd be different you have to be mentally tuned in and want to play for something bigger than yourself. I feel the spark of trying to improve myself again amongst a new group of players, new team, and new organization. That’s what keeps me going.”
