LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena admits that he's followed new signing Jaime Penedo for some time

MIAMI – The LA Galaxy have added another goalkeeper to the mix in Jaime Penedo, who signed officially with the club on Monday.

Penedo trained with the club on Monday at Florida International University and will be available on Wednesday for the Galaxy’s Guinness International Champions Cup Third Place match against AC Milan.

The 31-year-old Panamanian international was last with C.D. Municipal in Guatemala, but joins the Galaxy after a successful stint at 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup that saw him earn the tournament’s Golden Gloves as the top goalkeeper.

Following training on Monday, Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena offered his thoughts on the Panamanian  ‘keeper.

“He’s a good goalkeeper. I followed him for years with Panama,” said Arena. “He’s got a lot of experience; he probably has between 85 and 90 international caps. We think that he’ll help strengthen the goal position for us.”
