LA Galaxy excited for California Clasico match up against the San Jose Earthquakes

CARSON, Calif. – The California Clásico is back, considered by many to be the vicious rivalry in all of MLS.

Earlier this week, I spoke to several members of the Galaxy defense about the ferocity of the Clásico.

Their thoughts are below…

SEAN FRANKLIN: “The recent games have been high scoring with goals in the last minute and we had a tough playoff series as well, so we’ve got plenty of history. It’s a team that we don’t like and we know that they don’t like us, so it’s going to be a tough game.”

TODD DUNIVANT: “They’re going to be hungry and they always circle our games as the biggest of their year. It’s a rivalry that has been there for a long time especially the last year-and-a-half. Going back to last year, going back to Stanford Stadium this year, there’s been a lot of heated games and a lot of exciting games, unfortunately we’ve been on the rough end of a couple of them. It’s going to be a big game and we expect them to give nothing but their best.”

A.J. DELAGARZA: “This is a team where we’ve left points on the table in the last couple of years. It’s a game that we get up for and it’s the California Clásico, so it’s a rivalry game. We’re going to need to play well and get a W because they’re missing three key guys and we have to take advantage of that. At the same time, we know that they can bring in experienced guys as well.”
