LA GALAXY U-18’S BEAT STRIKERS, LOSE TO RSL-ARIZONA: The LA Galaxy Academy U-18’s picked up their fourth straight victory of the 2013-14 U.S. Soccer Development Academy regular season on Saturday before falling to undefeated Real Salt Lake-Arizona on Sunday. Having outscored their opposition 14-3 over the first three games of the year, head coach Ante Razov’s men began the weekend on a high note by shutting out Strikers FC 3-0 on the road. After netting four goals the previous week, Adonis Amaya opened the scoring for the Galaxy U-18’s in the 65th minute and Christian Chavez doubled his team’s lead eight minutes later with his third goal of the season. It then took all of two minutes for Amaya to tack on the third and final score, raising his season and team-high tally to seven. The following day at the Track and Field Facility at StubHub Center, the team hosted an unbeaten RSL-Arizona side that had not surrendered a goal all season. But the Galaxy U-18’s were certainly up for the challenge and took an early 1-0 lead. Steve Martinez, who spent most of last season with the Galaxy U-16’s where he was one of the nation’s top scorers with 18 goals in 23 games, found the back of the net in the 17th minute for his second of the 2013-14 USSDA campaign. However, the visitors were able to equalize just before halftime and added a pair of second half goals to hand the Galaxy U-18’s their first loss of the season. Through five games, the team has accumulated 12 points from a 4-1-0 record, They return to USSDA league action on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. when they host to a winless Chivas USA team at the Track and Field Facility at StubHub Center.

LA GALAXY U-16’S PICK UP TWO WINS OVER THE WEEKEND: The LA Galaxy U-16 Academy continued their winning ways last weekend and remained unbeaten in the 2013-14 U.S. Soccer Development Academy regular season following a pair of 2-1 victories. On Saturday, the team traveled to the University of California-Irvine Stadium Field and had to come from behind to deal Strikers FC a 2-1 defeat. After the hosts jumped out to an early lead in 18th minute, Jorge Ruiz netted his fourth goal of the season in the 27th minute to level the score at 1-1. With the game appearing to be headed for a 1-1 final, the Galaxy’s Johnathan Ramirez beat Strikers FC goalkeeper Jonathan Lee Klinsmann in the 87th minute to give the Galaxy a 2-1 win and their second win of the season. The following day, the team returned home to StubHub Center and once again overcame a one-goal deficit to claim a 2-1 victory. This time, an unbeaten Real Salt Lake-Arizona was the victim who took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. But just 10 minutes into the second half, Marc Calderon equalized with his first goal of the season and after scoring the day before, Ruiz played the role of hero by bagging his fifth score of the season in the 78th minute to solidify a second consecutive victory for the Galaxy U-16’s. With the game-winning strike, Ruiz now shares the team-lead for five goals scored with Jesus Nunez. Head coach Mike Munoz’s team, now has 11 points on the USSDA campaign with a 3-0-2 record. They return to league action on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 5:30 p.m. against Chivas USA at the StubHub Center Track and Field Facility.

With the win, the Galaxy U-14’s remained perfect on the season, improving to 4-0-0. Wright scored the games’ first two goals in the 10th and 12th minutes. Fellow forward Noa Harrison would make it 3-0 in the 20th minute with his fourth goal of the season before Strikers would pull one back in 31st minute. In the second half, Wright completed his hat trick with a 48th minute goal that restored LA’s three goal lead. Just before the final whistle, an own goal by the Strikers gave the game a final scoreline of 5-1.
