Arena World Cup Preview

In the first of a series of columns for the Los Angeles Times, LA Galaxy general manager and head coach Bruce Arena looks ahead to Friday's FIFA World Cup Draw.

As the all-time leader in wins amongst coaches in U.S. National Team history, Bruce Arena is uniquely qualified to comment on the upcoming World Cup. He led the U.S. to the World Cup twice, including an historic quarterfinal berth in 2002 in Japan/Korea. Arena took over as national team head coach in November 1998 and was in charge for nearly eight years, collecting a 71-30-29 all-time record over that period.

In this first column, Arena focuses on the U.S. National Team’s prospects heading into the draw and offers his analysis of what the team’s roster may look like in Brazil.
