LA Galaxy announce multi-year contract extension for Robbie Keane

Robbie Keane is not leaving Southern California any time soon.

The LA Galaxy announced on Wednesday that Keane had signed a new multi-year contract extension to remain with the club. Keane is coming off an impressive 2013 campaign that saw him score 16 goals and 11 assists in 23 appearances while finishing second in MLS MVP voting to former teammate Mike Magee. The 33-year-old Irish forward is expected to start Saturday's MLS season opener against Real Salt Lake.

As for the length of the deal, under league rules those details were not released, but the Galaxy captain told Sky Sports in November that he had signed a new contract that could keep him with the club for as many as three additional years.
