Schedule congestion may force LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena to make changes

CARSON, Calif. – Bye weeks and off days were prevalent in the early part of the LA Galaxy’s season, but now  with the Galaxy preparing to play their first match of a stretch of three games in eight days, changes are expected.

LA kick off their stretch on Saturday against the Houston Dynamo before facing FC Dallas on May 21 at StubHub Center) and then traveling to the Windy City to take on the Philadelphia Union on May 25. This run of matches comes as the Galaxy are already depleted with Landon Donovan and Omar Gonzalez already away on international duty while Todd Dunivant and Marcelo Sarvas still nursing injuries.

Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena told reporters that he expects to shuffle his personnel over the next stretch of games.

“We need to see more out of Samuel and Robbie Friend. In the midfield, we’re reliant on Juninho, Ishizaki, and Baggio Husidic, I think [Gyasi] Zardes needs to step up a little,” said Arena. “We’re going to be rotating [the back line] over the next few games which will give Tommy Meyer an opportunity at some point and perhaps Robbie Rogers as well. Over the next three games, we’d anticipate changing our lineup each time.”
