Robbie Rogers after 2014 MLS debut: "We need to make StubHub Center a fortress"

Lost in the talk of LA Galaxy attacker Raul Mendiola’s MLS debut during last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to the Houston Dynamo was yet another 2014 debut—the first appearance of LA midfielder Robbie Rogers.

After being sidelined with a stress reaction during preseason, Rogers made several appearances for LA Galaxy II before making his 2014 MLS debut in the Galaxy’s 1-0 defeat to the Houston Dynamo last Saturday.

During his brief 25 minute shift, Rogers was solid as he made several probing runs while trying to test the Houston defense.  Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena is quick to note that Rogers is by no means at full fitness, but the improvement is quite apparent in the eyes of the midfielder.

"Everything is a step, definitely, and I feel like I've been improving," said Rogers, who is expected to be available for Wednesday's clash with FC Dallas. "We have two big games at home coming up, and we need to get points and we need to make StubHub Center a fortress. Hopefully, I can contribute."
