LA Galaxy II midfielder Raul Mendiola named to USL PRO Team of the Week

CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, July 22, 2014) – LA Galaxy II midfielder Raul Mendiola was named to the USL PRO Team of the Week for Week 18 of the 2014 USL PRO season for his performance in a 1-0 victory Saturday on the road over Oklahoma Energy FC.

Mendiola scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute against OKC Energy FC to give LA Galaxy II a victory, snapping an eight-game unbeaten streak for Oklahoma City. After receiving the ball from Dragan Stojkov at the top of the 18, Mendiola cut inside and fired a shot into the bottom left corner of the net.

Additionally, goalkeeper Cody Laurendi and midfielder Rafael Garcia were named honorable mentions on the USL PRO Team of the Week for their performance against Energy FC.

After improving to 10-5-4, good enough for 34 points in USL PRO play, head coach Curt Onalfo’s side will now travel to Anteater Stadium at UC Irvine to face Orange County Blues FC Saturday, July 26 at 7:00 p.m. PT.
