LA Galaxy take on Colorado Rapids and Vancouver Whitecaps | Weekly Schedule

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Aug. 18, 2014) – The LA Galaxy (9-5-7, 34 points) will play in two matches this week, first traveling to take on the Colorado Rapids (8-10-6, 30 points) at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. PT before returning to StubHub Center for a match against the Vancouver Whitecaps (7-4-12, 33 points) Saturday, Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m. PT, with both games broadcast live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes.


Bruce Arena’s side has lost just twice in the past 13 matches and is currently tied for the fewest goals allowed in Major League Soccer this season with just 23. The Galaxy also possess the second-best goal differential in MLS with +12.


The Galaxy will face the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday for the second of three matches this year. In their first meeting this year, the Galaxy lost 1-0 to the Rapids on the road. All time, LA are 32-24-7 against their Western Conference counterparts and 3-5-2 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.


When the Galaxy return to StubHub Center for Saturday’s match against Vancouver, it will mark the third and final time the two sides face off this year, with the Galaxy going 1-0-1 in the previous two matches. The Galaxy have recorded eight wins and lost just one match against Vancouver in 12 all-time meetings, including a 6-0-0 record against the Whitecaps at home.


With a goal against Columbus Crew on Saturday, LA Galaxy Homegrown Player Gyasi Zardes continues his goal-scoring streak, having netted nine goals in the last 10 games. He has now recorded 10 goals on the year, bringing his career total to 14 in two years with the Galaxy.
