JAIME VILLARREAL NAMED LA GALAXY ACADEMY PLAYER OF THE YEAR: The LA Galaxy announced the winner for the club’s 2014 end of the year awards, with LA Galaxy Academy standout and current LA Galaxy II midfielder Jaime Villarreal earning LA Galaxy Academy Player of the Year honors. Villarreal most recently featured for the LA Galaxy Under-18 squad, scoring 10 goals to help lead his team to a 19-3-5 record and the Southwest Division Championship in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy 2013/2014 season. He also notched two goals to secure a 4-1 win over Chicago Magic PSG U-18 in the U.S. Soccer Development Playoffs. LA GALAXY TO IMPROVE PLAYER DEVELOPMENT FACILITIES: The LA Galaxy announced on Thursday that the club will invest $15 million dollars to improve facilities and the fan experience at StubHub Center. The Galaxy’s investment into player development will continue as the club will renovate the stadium to include additional first team training facilities and dedicated locker rooms, treatment facilities and training fields for LA Galaxy II and the Galaxy Academy. StubHub Center will house dedicated locker rooms for Academy U-14, U-16 and U-18 programs. The player development training facilities will be concurrent with that of the Galaxy first team, allowing youth players to play and develop amidst the most professional environment possible.

FIVE LA GALAXY ACADEMY PLAYERS NAMED TO U-18 USMNT CAMP: Five LA Galaxy Academy players were named to a 36-player roster for the U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team’s training camp from Oct. 23-31 by head coach Javier Perez.
