LA Galaxy announce schedule for 2015 MLS season

CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015) –Major League Soccer announced today the LA Galaxy’s complete MLS Regular Season schedule for the 2015 season. The Galaxy will begin their 20th season in MLS when they face the Chicago Fire on Friday, March 6 at StubHub Center live on UniMás with kickoff set for 7 p.m. PT.


Season tickets for the 2015 MLS season are on sale now, starting as low as $19.50 per game. Of the Galaxy’s 34 matches, 14 matches will be broadcast on one of MLS’ national television partners: ESPN, Fox Sports and Univision networks. Five matches will be shown on ESPN, five will be shown on FOX and four will be shown on Univision networks in Spanish language broadcasting, with eight of the 14 nationally-broadcast matches played at StubHub Center. The 2015 season is the first of Major League Soccer’s eight-year television and media rights partnerships with ESPN, FOX Sports and Univision networks.


Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes, the LA Galaxy’s local TV homes, will televise a total of 20 games this season. The networks enter their fourth seasons airing Galaxy games and exclusive, in-depth, non-game programming like the behind-the-scenes documentary series “Backstage: Galaxy” and “Galaxy Confidencial.”


The Galaxy will take on Western Conference teams at least two times during the season and Eastern Conference team just once. LA play Houston Dynamo, Portland Timbers, Real Salt Lake, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders and FC Dallas three times each. The Galaxy will travel to expansion side Orlando City Sunday, May 17 in the first ever meeting between the clubs while fellow expansion team New York City FC will visit StubHub Center Sunday, Aug. 23.


The first California Clasico against San Jose will take place when the Galaxy travel to Stanford Stadium on Saturday, June 27. The Galaxy will host the California Clasico at StubHub Center Friday, July 17 before the third and final matchup will take place at San Jose’s new Avaya Stadium Friday, Aug. 28, with both matches shown live on Univision. The Galaxy are 28-18-12 all-time against their Northern California rivals in regular season matches.


The club’s annual Fourth of July game features a match against Toronto at StubHub Center, marking the 20th consecutive season that the Galaxy will host a game on Independence Day, the longest such stretch in American professional sports.


The LA Galaxy became the first team in Major League Soccer to win five MLS Cup trophies last December when they defeated the New England Revolution at StubHub Center in the 2014 MLS Cup. A rematch of the 2014 MLS Cup will see the Galaxy travel to New England for a game Sunday, May 31 live on FOX.

Longest Homestand: Two Games (three times) – The Galaxy will play in back-to-back home games three times this season beginning when they face Seattle Sounders FC (April 12) and Kansas City (April 18). They also face Houston Dynamo (May 22) and Real Salt Lake (May 27) consecutively in addition to the Philadelphia Union (June 20) and the Portland Timbers (June 24).


Longest Road Trip: Three games – From May 6-17, the Galaxy will play away against Real Salt Lake (May 6), FC Dallas (May 9) and Orlando City SC (May 17) in their longest road trip of the season.
